Privacy Notice

Last updated 18 October 2026

WJ Van Straaten, trading as VANTA, South Africa, is the data controller responsible for your personal information collected through this website.

What we collect and why

  • Enquiry details (name, business name, email, WhatsApp number, website, message) — to respond to your project enquiry. Legal basis: steps before a contract / legitimate interests.
  • Brief content (business name, type of business and your ideas) — sent to the AI service to generate your free brief. A brief selected for an enquiry is temporarily stored in your browser tab, then saved as part of your enquiry if you submit it. Legal basis: steps before a contract / legitimate interests.
  • Technical data (IP address, stored only in scrambled form) — to prevent misuse of the brief builder. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who host the site and data, and the AI service that writes briefs.
  • Gmail, to deliver your enquiry notification to the owner.
  • Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where needed.
  • Authorities where required by law.

How long we keep it

Submitted enquiries, including any brief you send, are kept for as long as needed to serve you and meet legal obligations, then deleted or anonymised. The browser's temporary brief draft is cleared after a successful submission or when the tab session ends. Misuse-prevention records are kept for a short time only.

Your rights

Under South Africa's POPIA (and the GDPR where it applies), you may ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to its use, or complain to the Information Regulator. Email wjvs78@icloud.com.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections and restricted access to stored data.
